Gender-More

Gender-More

Gender-More is a series inspired directly by the Romanticist art movement, both visually and conceptually. The movement was primarily a way for the painters to rebel against the ‘norms’, as the romanticists no longer suppressed their emotions and rebelled against the growing industrial environment. This is an attitude that drives this project. Using pastel colours and warm tones, I explore the androgynous notion, creating a series of gender-fluid images. I feel that a large part of our society has for decades conformed to gendered classifications in fashion—something which, more recently, some began to question.
